Recently, I have been talking to clients about life insurance, some people are covered, some others are covered but not sufficiently, and an alarming amount aren’t covered at all.
Life cover is used for a number of reasons, including family protection or to cover a loan.
Often, people who don’t have life insurance have the same sort of objections such as ‘it seems like a waste of money’ or ‘I’m healthy so don’t need it’. –
The truth is, without trying to sound pessimistic, we can’t always predict our futures and the ‘7 families campaign’ (link: http://7families.co.uk/ ) highlights this perfectly.
Seven Families is a charity led campaign to provide a tax-free income for one year to seven people who have lost their income because of a serious or long-term illness or disability, if you take the time to learn about the stories of those 7 families you will notice most of them were perfectly healthy but unfortunately forced out of work due to sudden and unanticipated health conditions.
For many, things are tight already. It is hard to consider adding to the bills, especially when you’re hoping you’ll never need to claim. However, the cost of protection for your family and assets, compared to the troubles and hardship which could be faced if the unfortunate did happen is certainly worth considering.
